Okara is the soy bean puree, which you get as by-product while making soy milk.
- It has fine puree texture, beige colour
- Can be used fresh or dried
- For soups, bread and pastry dough, also used as thickener
- Fresh okara can be stored in closed container or jar for about 1 week (in the fridge)
- Dried at a room temperature with good air circulation, okara can be stored for almost unlimited time.
You can use okara for cooking vegetarian meals, by veggy-burgers etc., or add it to minced meat. Okara shall not be consumed raw. Okara has special value for face skin and hair cosmetics. Beauty specialists recommend to use fine fresh okara for face masks. Read more about okara under our Vegan Cuisine / Recipes. |
